Urgent Care Assistance Program Guidelines

At Furry Friend Fund, our mission is to ensure that no one has to choose between their pet and a medical bill. We aim to support families in crisis by offering financial assistance for urgent veterinary care when it matters most.

Please read the following carefully before applying:

Important Note:
If your pet is in immediate danger, it is your responsibility to seek veterinary care without delay. Furry Friend Fund cannot guarantee financial assistance, and our support is not a substitute for emergency action.

Basic Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for an Urgent Care Grant, you must meet the following guidelines:

  • You are requesting assistance for one pet facing a life-threatening illness or injury requiring urgent and specific treatment.

  • A current diagnosis and treatment plan from a licensed veterinarian must be provided. (We do not cover exam fees or diagnostic testing.)

  • The treatment must have a favorable or good prognosis.

  • You and your pet must reside in the United States.

  • Your total household income does not exceed $60,000 per year.

  • You have not received an Urgent Care grant from us for this or any other pet.

Treatment Cost Expectations

If we identify significantly lower-cost treatment options in your area, we may ask you to obtain an alternative estimate. Choosing to remain with a higher-cost provider may affect our ability to assist. (For example: If a general practice vet can safely provide the care instead of an ER clinic.)

What We Cannot Cover

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide support in the following cases:

  • The animal has already received most or all of the treatment.

  • The request is for chronic or ongoing treatments (e.g. chemotherapy, special diets, Cushing’s).

  • The request is for testing only (e.g. X-rays, MRI, blood work).

  • The request is for routine or preventative care (e.g. non-emergency spay/neuter, vaccines).

  • The request is for follow-up care after initial treatment is complete.

  • The cost of treatment far exceeds our average grant size of $250.

Important Disclosures

  • By applying, you agree that Furry Friend Fund may use submitted images or videos of your pet for promotional, fundraising, and educational purposes. Upon request, we will change or withhold identifying information.

  • Please ensure your veterinary clinic has permission to speak with us. Delays in verifying your pet’s care plan may result in a denial of assistance.

Note on Application Outcomes

If your application does not meet our eligibility guidelines, you may only receive one email response. We encourage you to review these guidelines thoroughly before submitting your request.
